Rough and Smooth Board Activity

The Rough and Smooth Board Activity is one of the hallmark sensory lessons in the Montessori curriculum, designed to help children develop their sense of touch in a refined and systematic way. This is not merely an academic exercise but an engaging and enjoyable experience where children connect with the world around them through their sensitive hands and curious eyes.

This activity helps children:

  • Develop their tactile sense: Children learn to distinguish between rough and smooth surfaces, honing their ability to identify and differentiate materials through touch.
  • Enhance focus: Exploring each surface requires attention and concentration, helping children develop sensitivity and refinement in perception.
  • Build vocabulary: By describing the surfaces, children expand their language skills, learning to express their sensations clearly and richly.
  • Foster a spirit of exploration: This activity encourages children to freely explore, observe, and question the physical world around them.

At Tiny Flower Montessori, the rough and smooth board activity is conducted with love and respect for every child. We believe that these small, meaningful lessons today serve as the solid foundation for the child’s holistic development in the future.

Sincerely,
Tiny Flower Montessori
