DEWORMING – A SMALL STEP FOR BIG HEALTH BENEFITS

Children are naturally curious and eager to explore the world around them. Actions such as crawling on the floor, sucking their fingers, or walking barefoot not only reflect a child’s positive development but also pose risks of worm infections. In Vietnam, common intestinal worms include roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms, with pinworms being prevalent among children.

Worm infections can lead to symptoms such as indigestion, abdominal pain, diarrhea, anemia, or malnutrition, and, if left untreated, may cause serious health issues. For this reason, the Ministry of Health strongly recommends periodic deworming to safeguard the health of individuals and families.

Deworming Program at Tiny Flower Montessori

To proactively prevent and reduce the risks of worm infections, Tiny Flower Montessori organizes a biannual deworming program for children aged 24 months and older, with the following schedule:

  • Round 1: Early June
  • Round 2: Early December

Medication: Mebendazole 500mg (Single dose).

This program is not only a medical measure but also a testament to the school’s deep commitment to the health and overall development of its students.

Collaborating with Parents for Optimal Results

In addition to organizing deworming at school, Tiny Flower Montessori encourages parents to partner with us in creating a safe and healthy environment for their children. Recommended actions include:

  • Maintaining cleanliness: Keep your home clean and guide children to wash their hands frequently, especially before meals and after using the restroom.
  • Ensuring food safety: Practice eating cooked food, drinking boiled water, and only consuming fruits that have been peeled.
  • Deworming for the whole family: Deworm all family members simultaneously to prevent cross-infection between parents, children, and siblings.

A Journey for Long-Term Health

Periodic deworming may seem like a small step, but it brings significant benefits in protecting children’s health. Tiny Flower Montessori continuously strives to collaborate with parents to ensure that all children grow up in a safe, healthy, and joyful environment.

Let’s take a moment to look back at the adorable images of our little ones during the 2023-2024 school year deworming program, and feel proud and reassured knowing that our children are being cared for with thoughtfulness and love.

Sincerely,
Tiny Flower Montessori
